Bible Studies
Sunday Bible Study
- Sunday mornings, 10:15 – 11:00 a.m. • Michaux House Room 302
Explore the Wisdom Literature of the Hebrew scriptures by looking at the three books traditionally attributed to King Solomon: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Wisdom. Each was composed to train readers to be both wise and godly, and they continue to offer wisdom for our own daily life. In Advent we will prepare for the coming of Christ by studying the Nativity stories and gaining new insight to enhance our celebration of the coming of Christ into the world.
Lenten Bible Pilgrimage
- February 22 – March 31
In Lent 2012, we invite you to engage in a daily practice of reading the Bible. While there are many ways that you might do this (a helpful resource is the Center for Biblical Study ), as pilgrims on this path you are called to read the Bible devotionally – with an eye toward finding yourself in the stories and characters you encounter. Choose a reading plan that is manageable for you, whether that’s reading one of the Gospels, reading all four Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles, or more if you have the time. Stretch yourself, but don’t set yourself up for failure. For example if you followed “God In Your Inbox” last year, you might renew that discipline and add reading an additional chapter in the Bible at a different time of the day. “God In Your Inbox,” Wednesday night Christian Journey, and a new small group initiative called Home Retreat are available as resources to help you engage in this spiritual adventure.
