Young Adults
In addition to the many opportunities for faith exploration for adults at St. James’s, there are special programs for adults in their 20’s and 30’s, who make up the fastest-growing segment of the church population.
The energy emanating from our parishioners (of all ages) continues to attract young folks seeking a comfortable church home. We strive to provide those in this age bracket with opportunities to come together as a group within the larger parish community.
Social Events
Many young adults seek social interaction with people near their age who share their values, their drive, their curiosity, and their sense of spirituality. In an effort to facilitate community and fellowship, young adults in the parish volunteer to host monthly social gatherings in their homes. Young adult activities and events are found here and included in regular email updates.
Please join us from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, at the home of Andy and Tina Sherrod for a summer cookout! We’ll provide hamburgers and beverages, and invite you to bring a dish to share. Contact Ann Dieterle at 355-1779, ext. 317 for more information.
Young Men’s Bible Study
A weekly hour of fellowship and discussion among a regular core of attendees. Areas of study for this group have included the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, the Book of Acts, Genesis, and Exodus. Young Men’s Bible Study meets every Tuesday morning from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Ministry Opportunities
Young Adults at St. James’s volunteer for various ministries both within St. James’s and in the larger community. For example, they serve as Sunday school teachers for our youth Journey to Adulthood program as well as Sunday evening youth group leaders; in the community, groups of young adults have volunteered with ElderHomes, a Richmond program that provides a day of repair and renovation to homes owned by the elderly and disabled.
For more information about young adult programs, please contact Alex Riffee at 355-1779, ext. 334
