Did you know that 1 in 7 children in Central Virginia do not have adequate food nutrition?

The Central Virginia Food Bank was created in 1980 by 60 local churches and charities that were concerned about the growing hunger and poverty in the region. Meals on Wheels was established in 1967 and served just eight clients. In 2005 the two organizations joined forces to create a joint kitchen, named the Community Kitchen, to cost effectively create from-scratch meals for neighbors in need across Central Virginia. This led to the formal merger in 2008 that created the umbrella agency, Feed More. Today, Feed More collects, prepares, and distributes food to neighbors in need within a service area of 34 counties and cities, with comprehensive food programs and an elaborate300 partner agency network and has provided some 24 million meals to those in need.

Christ calls us to serve “the least of these.” Give with joy and in thanksgiving for your abundance. Give knowing that you are providing the gift of nourishment to children and elderly citizens, individuals and families who are challenged with lack of adequate food. Give food and give hope!
