Mardi Gras for Missions

Mardi Gras for Missions is the number one fundraiser for our Missions program each year. There is no line item for Missions in the church budget, so this event is crucial for our ongoing work of sharing God’s love through service throughout the world. With the funds raised at Mardi Gras, the Missions Committee goes to work, planning eight to ten missions in a typical year. The Committee seeks to offer an annual Missions program that will serve those in need both domestically and abroad with work that ranges from construction and yard work to working with children and youth. In 2019, St. James’s plans to send teams of adults and youth to serve in Virginia’s Eastern Shore, Appalachia, Honduras, Cuba, Haiti, Richmond, Navajoland (Utah) and beyond.

Our auction committee secures some amazing items for both the silent auction and the live auction. Co-chairs Lindsay Wortham and Kit Bredrup promise that the evening will be filled with some of our longtime favorite items (dinners, art, homes and trips) as well as some brand new surprises that you won’t want to miss!

If you have an item or singular experience to donate to the auctions, please contact Kit Bredrup.
