This two-Sunday short course with the Richmond Peace Education Center considers civility in conversation. “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand,” Jesus is quoted in Matthew 12:25. So too do St. Paul and St. James warn Christians of the power of speech to inflict harm and division or build healing and community. As our nation seems more and more divided, we need to practice speaking respectfully with each other.…
