Our 2017 Holy Week Schedule

Palm Sunday, April 9

7:30 a.m.Holy Eucharist, Rite I
8:30 a.m.Youth Ministry Parish Pancake Breakfast – come one, come all to the warm hospitality of our youth, who will be flipping those hot cakes just for you. The entire congregation is encouraged to come eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, and fruit prepared by our 5th-8th grade youth. Donations encouraged to support the Summer 2016 Youth Mission Trips. Please vote for the HOLY PEEPS!
9:30 a.m.Stuart Circle Parish Palm Sunday Parade – with our fellow Christians from around the circle, we will meet at the steps of First English Lutheran to pray, process and proclaim the arrival of the Messiah in the Holy City. On returning to St. James’s, we will be met by our Children’s Choir with joyous song.
10:30 a.m.Holy Eucharist, Rite II and Reading of the Passion Gospel.

11:00 a.mParishioners, families, and furry friends are invited to participate in the 3rd annual Stations of the Cross Hike at Belle Isle hosted by the Young Adult Ministry. Stay afterwards for a BYO – picnic on the grass by the parking lot. Directions.

Easter Sunday, April 16

7:30 a.m.Holy Eucharist, Rite I
8:40 a.m.Children and parents gather in the Michaux House basement to decorate mite boxes in preparation for the Flowering of the Cross.
9:00 a.m.Festival Eucharist with the Children’s Flowering of the Cross
11:15 a.m.Festival Eucharist

The Parish Office will be closed Easter Monday and Tuesday, April 17 and 18.


The 1800-2300 blocks of Monument Avenue will be CLOSED for the annual Easter on Parade. The hours of closure will be between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. No Parking in that area will start at 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM. Venture Richmond will be hosting this event and their website has info.
Extra parking on Easter Sunday will be available in the One Monument Avenue parking deck on the second and third levels. Enter the alley from Lombardy about 100 feet south of Stuart Circle.
