Someday, someday, someday — I will be all that I can be.
Someday is coming … soon! Do you know when?
Something, something, something will happen someday, and I will be all that I can be.
Something is coming … soon! Do you know what?
Someone, someone, someone will come someday and then something will come of me, so that I can be all that I can be.
Someone is coming … soon! Do you know who?
Someday is a day when we think something will happen to make our lives bigger. Part of us thinks it will never come. But it will. And it is coming soon.
Someday is coming, and something will happen, because someone is coming, and in fact he already has, and that someone is the light of the world.
That someone is the son of God. That someday is Christmas. That something is Jesus’ coming into the world of time, the world of moms, and dads, and kids, and dogs and cats. The coming of Jesus into the world which sometimes is light, and sometimes is dark.
Yes, my friends the light of the world is coming soon, and in fact he already has.
He has already been born, and come, and he will come again. And he is already here – but he will be here again.
It is sort of a puzzle, this coming-and-being-and-already-here-Son of-God-who-is-the-Light-of-the-World, but it is a puzzle which has power more than magic.
Over the next four Sundays — while waiting for the coming of something, on someday, and the special someone who makes it real – and of course you know I mean the birth of Jesus of Nazareth on Christmas morning –
I would like to give you a present.
I would like to tell you something you must never forget.
Inside of you is power — more than magic.
Power more than the strongest people in the world.
Power greater than you can even understand.
That power comes from having within you the light of someone who came to be with you forever.
That power is the light of Christ.
And if you want to put away the darkness, and see the way God sees, I suggest that you consider practicing that power which is greater then magic.
And to practice it – all you need to do, is go get quiet somewhere, even for just a minute at night.
And close your eyes, and imagine the light, and open your heart, and pray.
