Parishioners at the Annual Meeting on February 26 elected this slate of nominees.
Thomas A. Hickman, Jr. (T. A.) (2017-2020)
Inspired by the wonderful preaching, excellent music, talented clergy and staff, diverse congregation and varied ministry offerings, T. A., his wife, Alice, and children, Helen and Tripp, joined St. James’s in 2008. He began principally worshiping at the 9:00 am service and attending the Wednesday evening Pilgrim’s Path classes. Helen and Tripp were confirmed at St. James’s. Over time, T. A. embraced the “Doers” mission by helping with Mardi Gras for Missions, table hosting at the Feast, supporting the CARITAS Intake ministry and serving as an usher and later captain of Usher Team 5. T. A. earned his undergraduate degree at Hampden-Sydney College and his MBA at the Mason School of Business of the College of William and Mary, and works in the finance group at Dominion Resources.

Scott and Anne are expecting their first child this June.
Laura Strickler (2017-2020)
Laura Strickler has been a member at St. James’s since 2000, when she and her then-fiance Patrick were looking for a church home. She was drawn in by the West Gallery Choir, where she spent 13 joyful years, and the vibrant Wine, Women & Wonder Bible study. She and Patrick now have two children, Thomas and Gabrielle (both age 10), and Laura has enjoyed supporting children’s ministries by organizing the Children’s Library, teaching Sunday School and working at VBS. She loved serving WomanKind by co-chairing the Friday night reception numerous times. She also chaired the Bake Shop at Taste of St. James for three years. Laura traveled and worked on mission trips to both New Orleans and Sudan, and since 2014 has co-chaired the Communications Committee.

He’s currently involved at St. James’s with the Men’s Cooking team, Video Ministry and Wednesday night food service teams. He was a Wheels Ministry volunteer for about eight years.
