Children’s Christian Education on Sunday
Sunday School classes are offered for all children, ages two through fifth grade, from September through May each year. Lessons are held during the Christian Education hour from 10:15 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Godly Play
Age three through first grade
The Godly Play curriculum is based on storytelling and wondering. Using the language of religion that children understand they explore lessons from the Bible and our faith tradition. The children are welcomed into the sacred space of the Godly Play classroom and experience sacred stories, parables, and liturgical action.
Growing in Faith
Second through fifth grade
The Growing in Faith Workshop Rotation Model offers our elementary children a way to experience scriptural stories and faith lessons through varied types of learning. Workshops from art, cooking, games, music, science, storytelling, and video are used to revisit the same story over a period of three or four weeks. By participating in a variety of workshops this program emphasizes active learning and helps children connect spiritual lessons to their own lives.
Children’s Chapel
Pre-K through third grade
Children are welcome at all worship services. From September to May a children’s homily led by a clergy member is offered in the Children’s Chapel during the 9:00 a.m. service. Children’s Chapel is designed and most meaningful for children pre-K through third grade. Younger children may participate when accompanied by an adult. Children are invited to observe the celebration of the Eucharist on the chancel rug or at the altar rail. All baptized children are welcome to receive communion.
