“Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only.”
Those words not only adorn the front of our church and tower over the back of the altar, but more importantly, they inform most everything we do.
St. James’s has historically had one of the largest and most active mission programs in the country, including (pre-COVID) eight to ten annual missions trips to places as far-ranging as Haiti, Cuba, South Sudan, the Appalachian region of Virginia, and of course, right here in Richmond. Most of our mission trips require no special skills, just willing hands and compassionate hearts. We also offer a limited number of scholarships to help offset the cost of being part of a mission trip. For now, though, our mission trips are confined to Virginia.
We also have a generous and highly focused outreach program that powerfully supports (financially and with sweat equity) the following non-profit organizations: Caritas, Peter Paul Development Center and REAL LIFE.
If you’re looking to be God’s hands around the world or right around the corner, you’ve found the church that can match your generous spirit.
