Navajoland April 29 – May 6, 2025

April 29 – May 6, 2025, Navajoland

Last year, St. James’s Mission Committee began discerning a relationship with the Episcopal Church in Navajoland. A small group took an exploratory trip to prayerfully consider what possibilities existed. In accordance with the Mission Committee’s new vision and guiding principles, the next step in this discernment is to lead a pilgrimage to further explore and pursue this relationship. However, we will be using the phrase ‚ÄúSpiritual Journey‚Äù rather than ‚Äúpilgrimage,‚Äù due to the complex history between indigenous people and colonialism. This trip will be like a traditional pilgrimage insofar as we hope you will go deeper spiritually and in your life in Christ by encountering Jesus in a new, beautiful, and unfamiliar place while coming to terms with the complexities around indigenous history in America. It is unlike a traditional pilgrimage insofar as we hope that the relationship with the Episcopal Church in Navajoland and people there will continue well beyond the initial pilgrimage and will hopefully lead to new opportunities for mutual ministry in the future.
