Missions/Retreats/Pilgrimages

MLK Service Lock-In

Ninth through twelfth graders are invited to participate in our service lock-in in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. As a group, we attend the MLK Evensong and reflect on his legacy. For service, we focus on the Catacombs, where different addiction groups meet throughout the week. We clean, paint, and fix any issues to create a more welcoming space for our community members who attend group meetings there. Finally, we take time for fun and a little bit of sleep! We are grateful for the chance to give back to our direct community in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. The MLK Service Lock-In normally occurs the Sunday and Monday of MLK weekend.

Snowfest

Sixth through twelfth grade youth can participate in our yearly retreat at Shrine Mont. It’s so much fun! We leave Friday night and drive to Shrine Mont. We spend Saturday skiing and end the day with a campfire. We then leave Sunday morning after Morning Prayer. Throughout Snowfest, we take time to reflect on a spiritual theme and spend time together. Snowfest normally occurs during the first weekend in February.

Harvest of Hope Mini-Mission

Fifth through eighth grade youth can participate in our middle school mini mission with Harvest of Hope. Throughout the mission, we learn about the issue of hunger and how we are called to assist our neighbors in need. We will work in the fields together to harvest seasonal vegetables to donate to local food banks. What we harvest will likely be on the dinner table within 24 hours. We will work hard and play hard, before we head home we will enjoy some fun time together too! This mission trip normally occurs during the end of June/July.

Appalachia Mission

Ninth through twelfth graders can join in our high school mission to Hurley, VA. There, we spend a week supporting the Hurley Community Development Center to help local residents with home repairs, cleaning projects, painting, yard work, farming, etc. Our days will be full of projects and time interacting with local residents, and during the evenings we’ll enjoy free time to relax, hang out, worship, and explore the local area. We’ll stay in bunkhouses at the Center and eat in their dining hall. At the end of the week we’ll enjoy a day of fun at a state park. This mission trip normally occurs during the third week in July.

Creation Care Pilgrimage

Ninth through twelfth grade youth are invited to our youth pilgrimage focused on creation care and raising awareness about the critical role our oceans play in sustaining life on our planet. We will travel to South Florida in July 2025. Our group will stay at the Marine Lab in Key Largo, Florida, where they will attend classes, labs and snorkeling trips to learn more about the issues impacting God’s creation in the Keys. Scuba certification is required for this trip, we will work as a group to get certified together! Watch this space for details and registration.
