We are a community drawn together by the love of God and our desire to serve Christ in the world. Your generosity strengthens our church, fuels our ministries, and opens the door to our community.
Each of us has our own capacity to give, but all of us together, supporting financially as we are able, enable us to pray, work, learn, laugh, and sing together. It is you, the givers and doers, who empower St. James’s to serve and spread God’s love to each other, our neighbors, and the world. There are many ways to give at St. James’s; see below for more information.
There are multiple ways to support St. James’s now and in the future.
- Make an annual commitment through your pledge to be paid by December 31, 2024. Your pledge is a financial promise, a commitment to the ministry of St. James’s and an indication of your generosity. Pledges provide the Vestry with an estimate of expected income essential for the preparation of our annual budget.
- Set up a recurring gift online or through your bank’s BillPay.
- Make a one-time gift online or via check.
- Pledge Payments and gifts can be made online, via check, stock, Donor Advised Funds, or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs). Make sure to put 2024 Annual Giving in the memo.
You may use stock to fulfill your annual pledge or to make a special gift. You are entitled to an income tax charitable deduction for the full market value of the stock, and you pay no capital gains tax on the appreciation.
Making a gift of stock is simple. St. James’s has accounts at several brokerage organizations and you may use any one of them to complete your stock transfer. Please notify St. James’s of your stock gift or upcoming transfer by contacting Poconna Thiel (pthiel@doers.org) or (804.355.1779 ext. 311).
People age 70¬Ω or older who own an IRA may make cash gifts directly from their IRA to charity. For many people, this is the best tax-wise way to give. An IRA rollover gift will not be included in your taxable income and will qualify for your required minimum distribution.
Please reach out to Betsy Lee at blee@doers.org or (804) 355-1779 ext. 335 should you have any questions surrounding your pledge, pledge payment, or gift. For your convenience and/or documentation that may be needed by your broker or tax adviser, St. James’s Tax ID # is: 54-0515726.
Memorial gifts to St. James’s are a special way to support your church and celebrate the life a friend, family member, or a member of our church community. Gifts can be made online¬†or via check.
Make a special gift in Thanksgiving of a birthday, Baptism, Confirmation, wedding, or other blessing online or via check and make sure to include your gift information in the memo.
The health and well-being of St. James’s is built upon the generations of saints in our community who have left a legacy gift intended for the long-term benefit of the church. Join the Whitlock Legacy Society by naming the St. James’s Endowment Fund in your will or other financial planning.
