Why all the Mardi Gras proceeds will be going to Outreach.

Following a successful discernment process over the last year, St. James’s Mission Committee is actively strengthening relationships with our mission partners so that we can faithfully live into the work God has called us to do. Due to the success of our Mardi Gras parties over the years, the Mission Committee is well funded to live into what we believe our call to be in the short term.

Therefore, all of this year’s Mardi Gras proceeds will go towards our annual community partner grants. Each year, St. James’s disperses grants to ten community partners through our Financial Outreach Committee (see them all in the video above and the list below). These grants allow us to build relationships with our community partners while investing in the good work they’re doing throughout Richmond to serve those whom God has called us to serve. Therefore, these grants have been and remain a central ministry of St. James’s. Over the past few years, a portion of the funds raised through Mardi Gras enabled us to increase the size of the grants, and committing the entire profits from Mardi Gras this year will allow us to further support our partners and the work they’re doing in Richmond.
