Sundays

We have two youth groups that meet almost every Sunday during the program year (major exceptions being Blessing of the Animals, Christmas, and Easter). We meet on the third floor of Michaux House from 10:15-11:00. Time spent together in youth groups is all about relationships- with each other and with God. We’ll play games, form friendships, and grow in our faith together through stories, videos, and discussions, and put our faith into action through service projects. Senior Youth Fellowship (SYF)

SYF is for all youth in grades 9-12. During SYF, we check in with each other, share joys and disappointments, and complete service projects for St. James’s and our surrounding community. For our Christian education, we use units from 4Ward, which is part of Journey to Adulthood. Within these units there are discussions about the Bible, faith in the modern world, and our personal faith journeys. SYF is a time to relax and connect with each other, as we complete service projects or explore our faith.

Junior Youth Fellowship (JYF)

JYF is for all youth in grades 6-8. We use the Rite 13 curriculum from Journey to Adulthood to help guide our Christian education. Rite 13 focuses on three main themes: Loving God, Loving Neighbor, and Loving Self. Middle school is a key stage of life where identity is formed. Rite 13 recognizes this stage and helps our youth discuss the many questions they may have when forming their Christian identity. Besides learning about these themes, we also spend time in JYF getting to know each other, playing games, and completing service projects for Sheltering Arms. Fair warning, we like to play a lot of corn hole in JYF!
